Ability West is a long-standing charity with a proud 64-year history. Today, we operate more than 70 services across Galway City and County, supporting almost 600 individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism. We employ more than 700 people across our services. We're also the patron of four special schools in Galway.
Uniquely, we continue to grow, not because of commercial ambition, but because of our commitment to addressing the significant unmet need that exists within our communities across Galway.
Right now, we are seeking three new Board Members to join the Ability West Board.
Being a Board Member is a voluntary role, but it is also an opportunity to make a significant and lasting contribution to the lives of the people we support. As a Board Member, you will help shape the strategic direction, governance and future development of one of the largest disability service providers in the West.
We are particularly interested in hearing from experienced professionals with senior-level expertise in one of the following areas:
IT / advanced Technology, Cybersecurity and Digital Skills
Education/Special Education
Civil Engineering, Construction or Building Management
Legal Practice and Governance
We are seeking individuals who have built substantial careers in these fields and who are willing to share their knowledge, judgement and professional experience to support the continued growth and development of Ability West.
As a member of our Board, you will join a dedicated team committed to ensuring that people with intellectual disabilities and autism have access to high-quality supports, services and opportunities to live full and meaningful lives within their communities.
