Making a donation is one of the many ways you can help Ability West. Support from members of the community is vital for us to continue providing high quality services and supports to children and adults with intellectual disability who avail of our services.

Unless otherwise specified by the donor, all funds raised for and on behalf of Ability West are used towards our ongoing capital programme which includes new builds, extensions and refurbishments of existing buildings, the purchase of specialised equipment and buses/minibuses.

Donations of €250 or over in a year (or €21 per month) are eligible for tax relief. €250 is actually worth €362 to Ability West - at no extra cost to you.

To allow us to claim the grossed up amount of tax associated with your donation, please download and complete the form available here.  Forms can be returned to Blackrock House, Salthill, Galway, H91 R254.

For more information on how you can donate to Ability West, please contact the Communication & Development Officer on 091 540939 or 087 7730105 or by emailing

Donate in Celebration

Now you can make your special occasion even more memorable by donating to Ability West. Whether you have a special anniversary, an upcoming wedding, a birthday or any other celebration why not request a donation to Ability West in lieu of a gift. Support such as this is vital towards ensuring we can continue providing high quality services and supports to people with intellectual disability and autism across Galway City and County.

Leave a Gift in your Will

There are a number of ways you can choose to leave a gift to Ability West in your Will.

A residuary bequest means that you leave all or part of whatever is left over from your estate once other gifts to family and friends have been distributed.

A pecuniary bequest is a gift of a fixed sum of money.

A specific bequest is a gift of a specific item.

A property bequest is a gift of a particular piece of property which you wish to leave to Ability West.

Donating in Memory

Requesting donations in lieu of flowers at the funeral service of your loved one allows family and friends to provide a meaningful gift in memory of your loved one.
