The Objectives of our Trike Park
To provide a purpose built tricycle park which will be the first of its kind in Ireland.
At this park everyone of all ages and abilities can enjoy the benefits of cycling. This is something which is not generally available to people with disabilities. While some children and adults with disabilities may not be able to use conventional bikes, there are different models of adapted tricycles that are available for people with disabilities which are adapted to their various needs for positioning and mobility.
Cycling is a common healthy recreational activity and should be available to all. We aim to provide a selection of adapted bicycles and tricycles in close proximity to local parks where people with disabilities can enjoy the cycling experience with family members, friends, staff and other members of the local community.
Our goal would not be possible without the contribution from a large number of people and organisations, in particular Boston Scientific and their employees who have made a substantial contribution as have the Communication Workers Union and the Rotary Club of Galway.
The following clip will give you some idea of the enjoyment this park will bring to people of all ages with an Intellectual disability.
