Recruitment Application Form

From time to time we have vacancies for relief or locum work which is of a temporary or short-term basis.
If you would like to be considered for the panel for relief or locum work as a Care Assistant or Basic Instructor please submit an application on the Ability West application form which is available on this website.
Applications can be submitted by email to recruitment@abilitywest.ie or by post to Recruitment Section, Ability West, Blackrock House, Salthill, Galway. Your application will be retained on file and will be considered on the next occasion when we are recruiting for the relief panel.

Care Assistants Relief/Locum Positions
The purpose of the Care Assistant position is to assist and support members of a small staff team in providing residential care, educational, development and training services for children and adults with an intellectual disability in accordance with Ability West’s policies, procedures and Safety Statement. Candidates will be expected to have an appropriate FETAC or Third Level Qualification in the Social Care or a care related discipline.

Basic Instructors Relief/Locum Positions
The purpose of the Basic Instructor position is to assist and support members of a small staff team in providing day services to adults with an intellectual disability. Services are provided in accordance with Ability West’s policies, procedures and Safety Statement. Candidates will be expected to have an appropriate FETAC or Third Level Qualification in the Social Care, teaching or a related field.

It is desirable, for both positions, that applicants hold a full driving licence.

Where vacancies arise for other positions that are to be filled by open competition, these are normally advertised on our website at the appropriate time and should be applied for as per criteria outlined at time of advertising.
