Last Sunday 12th February saw the Annual 5 Mile Menlo Walk take place for its tenth year running. It was a bitterly cold Sunday but this did not deter the enthusiastic walkers who showed up to take part and donate.
This successful walk which was the brainchild of Ray and Brega Kelly was organised in order to raise funds for Ability West where their son Andrew avails of the services.
Since turning 18 Andrew has transferred to the adult services of Ability West and receives a day service from New Directions in Knocknacarra and a respite service in Galway City. These support services are vital to him and to the family.
The Menlo Walk is one example of an important event where much needed funds were raised for Ability West. All of the proceeds raised for and on behalf of Ability West from the Menlo Walk will be used towards our ongoing capital programme which includes new builds, extensions and refurbishments of existing buildings, the purchase of essential aids, appliances, specialised equipment for service users and minibuses
We would like to take this opportunity to say a big Thank You to the Kelly Family and to all those who participated and donated. Here’s to another 10 years!
